Back in the apartment
[Brian Hook informed me that the comment feature was disabled until a person registered with Blogger. I must have accidentally done this as I was adjusting the blog settings and have just reactivated it.
Concerning the meetings, I have usually refrained from naming specific individuals we pray for, specifically Christians' children due to the public nature of this blog, but e-mail me directly and I will provide you with more details. We are thankful for these privileged ones who have grown up with the Gospel and come regularly with their parents.]
I got up a little bit later today, given how late I got home last night. Since Murray left for PEI early this morning to setup tents for some big seafood show, I took the opportunity to have some quiet time with the Scriptures, and to catch up on correspondence. (For those of you that don't know what 'correspondence' means, I'm writing letters of acknowledgment to believers to thank them for their gifts of practical fellowship for the Lord's work. It could also mean ordinary letters/e-mails to friends and family.) It's nice having some time to reflect.
I've discovered that my reduced caloric intake these past few weeks have translated into a reduction in my weight. I've dropped 0.5 - 1 belt notches. I haven't checked how many pounds I've lost, but I'll let you know once I find out. This is great though, because I wanted to be a little slimmer anyways which will allow me to be lighter on my feet. Upon mentioning this to the saints, the dear sisters in the Amherst assembly here are concerned that family and believers back home will think that I haven't been well-fed here. But I can assure you that this is not the case. I've enjoyed spending time regularly in the homes of saints enjoying their food and fellowship. Someone (likely Gladys Wheaton) put half a banana cake/loaf in my fridge yesterday which was likely left over after the refreshments following Morning Meeting. I had a piece for breakfast. For lunch I had microwaved frozen vegetables and a final ham sandwich. The roast chicken is next.... To set the record straight also, I am capable to cooking (thanks mom and dad) more than sandwiches, but have elected not too given the busy schedule of speaking to the children in the morning (now over), preparation for the Gospel, afternoon visitation, and then preaching at night.
Gladys Wheaton (and her husband John) have been so kind and awesome. While I was away at the Conference, she came in to tidy up the apartment (change sheets, towels, etc.)...not that my apartment was in disarray or anything. :) It has certainly reinforced the notion that it takes a woman's touch to turn a house into a home. Thank you, Gladys! Mrs. Stewart has also been incredibly kind in assisting me with my laundry given that I don't have a washer and dryer in the apartment. Thank you, Mrs. Stewart! (Dean O'Mard: you were right, Mrs. Stewart is awesome!)
Murray got back from PEI just before the Gospel Meeting tonight. It was good to see him there! Shirley is also with him along with the grandchildren, M and J, who are not saved and need your prayers. We had the biggest turnout for a Monday night: 50-60 people out which was encouraging. Believers from Moncton also came down, and Dennis Vareau(sp?) and his family also joined us from Shediac (a town in New Brunswick with a French speaking assembly). Good to see (Ken and) Doris Taylor, and (Clyde and) Bonita Elliott out as both of them have been in the hospital recently.
Cecil told me tonight that Jacob Morton has developed an abscess in his eye and has blood in his urine. The doctors are thinking about moving him from Moncton hospital to Halifax. Please keep praying for him.
