Breaking Bread with the Oxford Assembly
This morning, I drove 30 minutes to the small assembly in the town of Oxford to break bread with the saints at 9:45am. To my surprise, David and Ethel Hunt from Tatamagouche also came to encourage the saints. As a result, 7 of us sat down before the bread and the wine to remember the Lord Jesus Christ and His death at Calvary. We had a good meeting. It's always a good meeting when He is there, Matthew 18:20.
After we partook of the emblems and the offering was collected, David encouraged me to give a word of ministry. (I deferred to him since he is a full-time servant of the Lord.) I spoke a word of encouragement I enjoyed from Jeremiah. Afterwards, Clifford Budd announced that following refreshments in the basement, we would have a brief ministry meeting and encouraged me to have a further word. This caught me by surprise, so I asked David to speak also. He agreed and we split the time. David spoke some encouraging words on "continuance" in the New Testament. I shared some thoughts about Moses in Exodus and the isolation that he felt at times. I'm thankful to the Lord for His help. Before leaving, David said that he and a brother from Newfoundland will be having open-air meetings in and around the areas of Tatamagouche, Wallace, and Pugwash Junction beginning this Wednesday for a few nights in each location. Please pray for these meetings.
Clifford and Olive then invited me over to their place for dinner. We had a lovely meal and time of fellowship before I headed back to the apartment in Amherst to finish preparing for the Gospel meeting.
I returned to the apartment and Chuck called me to tell me that I am being "evicted" from the apartment tomorrow so the sisters can start tidying up the apartmemt for visitors arriving from Newfoundland for Carrie's wedding. Clyde and Bonita have kindly offered to take me in for week.
Pugwash Junction cancelled their Gospel meeting to support the Tent Meetings which was great. We had the largest crowd yet tonight with 60-70 out for which we are thankful. A good number of Christianss children and other unsaved relatives of believers were out. We also saw at least one new visitor in attendance also. Murray announced at the end of the meeting that Friday's Gospel Meeting in the tent will be cancelled due to Carrie and Scott's wedding in Tidnish, NS.
