Computer Repairs

I'm too tired to write tonight. Check back tomorrow.

[Tomorrow]

Woke up, had breakfast, caught up on correspondence. Brian and Brenda Wood's computer was having problems, so I decided to help them configure it. Spent the morning trying to track down a Windows 98 CD, and looking at online USB Flash drives to help them move data across to a 2nd computer. (Kent and Rebekah gave them their old computer as a replacement.) It's a small 'thank you' for everything they've done for me.

After a roast-chicken, bread, and microwaved-vegetables lunch, I headed out to visit the local computer repair shop. The guy at the shop moved back home to NS from Kelowna, BC with his wife from Merritt, BC. Awesome, a former BC resident! He gave me advice on where to get a good deal on a USB flash drive, let me borrow a Win98 CD, and I gave him a Gospel invitation to our tent meetings.

Went to the next computer shop and got a good deal on a 1 GB USB flash drive for the Woods. Gave this guy a Gospel invitation, too. Dropped by and said 'hi' to Brian at Sobeye's and then bought some milk and fruit to last me the rest of the time in Amherst.

Upon returning back to the apartment, Murray came by and we went visiting some Gospel contacts close to Amherst. He had visited some contacts closer to Pugwash, and Wallace in the morning on his own.

We had a full tent tonight with 40-50+ people out which was encouraging. Ken Turkington and his family were out, too. Terry and Angie & family were also out.

Good news: Jacob Morton has been released from the hospital in Moncton and sent home.

Following the meeting, I went over to Brian Wood's home to work on his computer. It turns out the Programs folder with all the applications was moved to another spot meaning Windows could find it, so no documents or pictures could be open. Once I move the folder back, things worked fine. No USB ports on this machine though, rats!

Computer #2's monitor settings were incompatible with their current monitor (causing illegible streaking) so I called cousin Edmond in Vancouver and he walked me through the steps to boot up Windows XP in safe mode (thanks, Edmond!). Given that this was a better computer, and we couldn't transfer files from their first computer (no network card, USB ports, CD-burner), I decided to take the HD out and put it into #2 in slave mode. It took a while to extract, configure, and install this drive, but we got it and it booted up fine!

We had a 'lunch' afterwards and I headed home. It was ~12:30 am.
