Testimony Meeting tonight

After breakfast and reading the scriptures, I worked on correspondence and exported the letters to PDF format. Murray was off to Saint John, NB for a complete physical and would be spending the day in NB which gave me some needed quiet time until the Gospel Meeting tonight.

Lunch time rolled around and after enjoying some roast chicken, bread, and microwaved vegetables, I transfered the PDF files to my USB keychain drive and off I went to Mrs. Stewart's to print them out. She's been so kind in letting me use her printer, and high speed internet connection to research facts for tonight.

As I drove to her place, I discovered that since buying gas from Irving (Sunday night) that the "check engine light" on my dashboard has gone out. I've been previously buying the mid-grade to save money from Shell. (VW recommends Premium for best performance, but at approx $1.30/litre, yikes, that's expensive!) That's good news!

After printing-off the letters and sealing them to be mailed, Mrs. Stewart let me step on her bathroom scale to see how much weight I've lost since arriving to NS. Wow, according to her scale, I've lost 6 lbs! Factoring discrepancies between her scale and mine in Vancouver, it's probably closer to 4 lbs. Regardless of this fact, I feel great and am pleased at this spin-off benefit of Gospel work: weight loss!

I mailed off the letters at the Canada Post Office, and drove home along Victoria Street taking a few pictures of the nice heritage-style homes. It's been hot and sunny today but not overly humid. I also drove around the streets around the Hall and found the big Mormon church nearby. Borrowing the words of a dear brother from Brampton that is home to the Mormon Tabernacle headquarters in Canada, it was a "blight on the landscape of God."

I prep'ed in the apartment for the rest of the afternoon before heading out to buy gas at the Irving station and then driving off to Clyde and Bonita Elliott's home for supper out towards Springhill (a 10 minute drive). It was an excellent meal of spaghetti, scallops and rice. After supper, I drove back to the apartment and got changed for meeting.

I gave my testimony tonight with details from dad and mom's experiences growing up in China. (I had announced my intention a few days prior.) Afterwards, Murray surprised everyone by giving his testimony, too. We were thankful for the 40-50 that came out, including unsaved family members (of saints) that have not regularly attend these meetings. It was good to see saints from Oxford, River Hebert, Pugwash Jn, Tatamagouche, and Shediac out. Some would have driven 45-60+ minutes to get to the meeting.
